Tourism New Zealand Insights Tool

When the COVID-19 pandemic abruptly closed international borders, New Zealand's thriving international tourism industry came to an immediate standstill.

Tourism New Zealand, a leading figure in the industry, was committed to assisting Regional Tourism Organisations and Economic Development Agencies in gaining a deeper insight into the domestic visitor market. Their primary focus was on helping these stakeholders comprehend the emerging trends in domestic visitation numbers.

As a result, a new dataset and an Insights Tool were developed, providing Tourism New Zealand with a valuable means to support their stakeholders during this challenging period. This fresh dataset, acquired through Data Ventures, empowered stakeholders to gain a comprehensive understanding of the evolving domestic visitation patterns, enabling them to make well-informed strategic decisions.

I had the key responsibility of crafting an engaging and user-friendly experience for TNZ's new data tool. My involvement spanned the entire project lifecycle, from initial research and discovery, ideation, and prototyping, to user interface design and user testing. Additionally, I actively engaged with various stakeholders throughout the process.
